Hauraki Goldfield

New Zealand North Island

Glamorgan Property

Hauraki boasts a significant footprint in high-grade gold and silver mining, with circa 50 epithermal deposits mined since the 1860s. They have produced over 15Moz of gold and 60Moz of silver. Notably, the Martha mine in Waihi has yielded around 10Moz of gold to date.

RUA GOLD’s recent acquisition, Glamorgan, holds a 3.8km zone showing signs of gold mineralization, supported by soil samples and rock samples indicating gold prospectivity. Within Hauraki, Glamorgan presents the classic features of a major epithermal gold-silver system. This target remains unexplored through drilling, offering an exciting opportunity for future discoveries.

Target identified

The Glamorgan Wires Ridge Prospect is a 3.8km long zone with classic surface features of a major epithermal gold-silver system

Glamorgan Project Overview

Footprint of a Major Epithermal Gold System Adjacent to OceanaGold’s Recent Major Discovery

Glamorgan has the classic surface features of a major epithermal gold-silver system

  • Untested 3.8km long zone of silicification, veining and alteration
  • >50ppb gold in soils over its 3.8km length
  • Microcrystalline quartz, opaline and chalcedonic quartz, high levels in the epithermal system
  • Anomalous Au-as-Sb-Hg geochemistry indicates above or upper levels of a bonanza zone
  • Rock samples on surface up to 95g/t gold
  • Highly prospective Wentworth and Sainsbury Targets also within the permit

Exploration

Wires Ridge is a compelling drill target, but will benefit from additional detailed data and mapping to assist in targeting:

  • 3.8km of 50ppb gold in soils anomaly with Infill Rapid soil sampling and pXRF analysis is a key data driven activity to assist in drill targeting
  • Several mineralized trends present within the corridor may represent step over or relay zones on major structures, ultra detailed UAV magnetics will highlight these cross structures, and discriminate hydrothermal alteration signatures key to the focus of high grade gold deposition
  • Additional detailed geological mapping, rock/vein characterization will augment locally high-grade quartz veins (highest rock chip 95g/t gold) to assist in targeting gold enrichment zones
  • 3km CSAMT (Controlled Source Magneto Tellurics) resistivity is planned across Wires Ridge. CSAMT is a geophysical tool used to extensively and successfully in the delineation of Martha and Wharekirauponga gold deposits.
Project planning will allow the mapping, infill soil geochemistry and UAV magnetics to be carried out simultaneously, and allow drill targeting to be completed within 3-4 months.

Glamorgan is located in an epithermal goldfield, home to some of the world's highest grade of gold

Neighboring mines are currently producing high grade gold.

RUA GOLD's acquisition of Glamorgan

RUA GOLD’s rights to explore Glamorgan were acquired in October 2023. OceanaGold previously held the exploration permits over Glamorgan from 2013 to 2023, however had to relinquish the permit due to lack of activity.

RUA GOLD made an application under the NAA (newly available acreage) to explore Glamorgan. This application was granted for a 5 year period, with priority to extend for a further 5 years.

The 4,644-hectare Glamorgan permit includes the highly prospective Wires Ridge among several targets, identified in exploration since the 1970s.

Hydrothermal alteration in subsurface Miocene and Pliocene andesite and dacite volcanism occurs mainly in steeply angled epithermal quartz veins.

Modern Exploration

From 1976 a string of companies explored in the Glamorgan area: Amoco Minerals NZ Ltd, BP Oil NZ Ltd, Delta Gold NZ Ltd, and then Newmont Mining (2006 – 2016).

Newmont-Glass Earth

Newmont and Glass Earth Ltd worked Glamorgan in a joint-venture until OceanaGold acquired the permit in 2015. Exploration included 11 line kilometres of electromagnetic surveying, 176 gravity stations, extensive geochemical sampling, and drilling of 3 holes but no ore intercepts.

OceanaGold

Exploration until 2022 identified at Wires Ridge a 3.8 kilometre-long zone of gold mineralization in silica and quartz [ref]. Soil samples along the zone show more than 50 ppb gold, and rock samples, up to 95 g/t Au.

Wires Ridge

Exploration at Wires Ridge has elevated Au, Sb, As and Hg in soils, and microcrystalline, opaline and chalcedonic quartz in veins along a 3.8km-long zone. Hydrothermal alteration of surrounding rocks demonstrates upper levels of a gold mineralised epithermal system.
